Kinky Boots is stomping in to Brisbane

Sometimes you don’t know how much you don’t want to see something until you’ve already seen it.

However, it’s in the ether now so we just have to deal with ex-Lord Mayor of Brisbane Sally-Anne Atkinson in a pair of crotch high ‘fuck me boots’!

At least it means something good is on its way to Brisbane!

Kinky Boots, the smash Broadway musical, will open in Brisbane August 22, 2017.  (And also, to be fair she was raising awareness for the Kinky Boots-approved campaign Just Be … as in ‘Just Be Who You Are’. Atkinson wore the red boots to help promote that campaign, which supports the charity beyondblue, along with a bunch of other semi-celebs).

With a book by Broadway legend Harvey Fierstein and music and lyrics by lifetime legend Cyndi Lauper, Kinky Boots is one of the biggest musicals produced in the last decade, and is roundly praised as one of the most uplifting theatre experiences of all time. It’s won a swag of awards all over the world, and has already slayed audiences in Sydney and Melbourne. 

Which is pretty freakin exciting for Brisbane really, especially in a year of so many theatre highlights for the river city!
