Richard Bell Reader: documenta fifteen

Richard Bell Reader: documenta fifteen focuses on Australian artist Richard Bell’s continuing influence on contemporary art, exploring all aspects of his painting, video, installation, text and performance presented at documenta fifteen, especially the ongoing installation project ‘Embassy’ (2013-), considering this work’s influence as a site for discussions of race and identity in national and global contexts.

Taking the form of a broadsheet newspaper, the publication includes full colour reproductions of Bell’s new suite paintings from his ongoing ‘Protest Paintings’ series, exhibited for the first time at documenta fifteen, Kassel, Germany, in 2022.

Richard Bell Reader: documenta fifteen won the 2023 Museums Australasia Multimedia & Publication Design Awards (MAPDA) Best Book (Level A) and Best in Show for publications.
