Richard Bell Reader: Tate Modern marks Brisbane-based artist Richard Bell’s staging of his seminal work ‘Embassy’ (2013- ongoing) at Tate Modern, London in May-June 2023.
Taking the form of a broadsheet newspaper, this second iteration of the ‘Richard Bell Reader’ focuses on Bell’s continuing influence on contemporary art, exploring all aspects of his practice. The new edition reflects Bell’s inclusion in documenta fifteen in Kassel, Germany (2022), and includes Bell’s two influential essays ‘BELL’S THEOREM: ABORIGINAL ART – It’s a white thing!’ (2002) and ‘Bell’s Theorem (Reductio ad Infinitum): Contemporary Art – It’s a White Thing!’ (2022).
These essays, and a new introductory text by Bell, add to a collection of writing by renowned artists, historians and academics,
